Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will this week exhibit their products in Windhoek over a two-day period. The exhibitors are from Oshana, Erongo, Karas and Khomas regions. This is the fourth annual exhibition for small and medium enterprises. In attendance will be manufacturers of garments, protective clothing, optical lenses, arts, crafts, leather goods, trailers, roof tiles and bricks. There will also be entrepreneurs with interests in the provision of services such as catering, building construction and IT. The exhibition is aimed at connecting SMEs to corporate firms, parastatals, government departments and municipalities, so that business linkages and new sources of supply can be forged, and the public are also invited to attend the exposition. President Hifikepunye Pohamba is scheduled to officially open the exhibition. The exhibition is organised by SMEs Compete, a consulting firm that provides income growth and employment creation support to SMEs, while the event provides a marketing opportunity for SMEs from around the country. SME Compete has offices in Windhoek, Ongwediva, Walvis Bay and Rosh Pinah “The exhibition will provide managers of large business entities and the public sector as well as the general public with an opportunity to see just how competitive Namibia’s SME sector is becoming,” says SMEs Compete’s Danny Meyer. There would also be an entrepreneur dialogue session where seasoned business people would share knowledge with new business people. Development Bank of Namibia, Bank Windhoek and First National Bank Namibia made the event possible.
