Guangdong, Macau Branded Products Fair reports MOP300 million transactions

The four-day Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair attracted over 90,000 people and logged an transaction amount of over MOP300 million including contract signing and on-site sales as of 4pm yesterday.
In addition, the fair set up 589 business matching, contributed to the signing of eight cooperation agreements and organised 16 professional presentations between July 30 and August 2 at the Fishermans Wharf.
Jointly organised by the Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of Guangdong Province and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), the open event combined exhibition, shopping, culture and leisure entertainment as a whole.
Of the eight agreements signed, four were cooperation agreements, two were letters of intent, one was cooperation contract and one was memorandum.
Signing parties mainly came from different countries and regions, such as Macau, Jiangmen of Guangdong, Huizhou, Zhuhai, Meizhou and Japan.
The agreements included a Macau enterprise signed an agreement to distribute red wine from Portuguese speaking countries to Shandong Province as a way to explore the mainland market, taking the SAR as an intermediary platform.
According to IPIM yesterday, the fair registered a total transaction amount of over MOP300 million, made up of contract signing and on-site sales.
Foods, clothing, art and crafts, household electrical appliances and electronic products were the most popular items in the venue.
With the joint support and promotion of the Guangdong and Macau governments, nearly 200 branded product enterprises exhibited in the fair and set up 259 booths.
The IPIM said the fair had showcased Macaus position as a tourist destination and developed its role as a trade and economic service platform.
The fair aimed to boost the local economy, promote the mainland and Macaus branded products to local and overseas markets, and also offer Chinese and Macau enterprises business opportunities in a time of the global financial crisis.
